Controller
Position Summary:
The Controller is responsible for oversight of all finance, accounting and reporting activities. As the number two to the CFO, the Controller will be involved in supporting presentations to the management committee and will work closely with the leadership group of the company.
The Controller leads all day to day finance operations and supervises a team of four staff members. This includes responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, quarterly shareholder distributions and revenue recognition. The Controller works closely with outside accountants ensuring a successful and timely review of financial statements and tax return preparation.
Essential Functions:
• Oversee all accounting and reporting functions ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
• Maintain internal control over accounting functions and safeguard assets
• Coordinate and assist CFO in selecting and using external accountants, banking relationships, insurance vendors
• Analyze financial data and present financial reports in a timely and accurate matter
• Supervise accounting staff to leverage strengths and build a strong team
• Manage the productivity on the day-to-day activities of accounts payable, accounts receivable, client contracts and billing including compliance with all client contractual provisions
Requirements:
• Minimum of Bachelors degree in accounting with a CPA preferred
• 8-10 years progressive accounting and management experience preferably in a professional services environment
• Technology proficiency with MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and accounting software systems
• Ability to manage and motivate staff
• Keen analytic, organization and problem solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
