Long Live Rock (Band)!

Rock Band II hit shelves on September 14. Followed a few weeks later by Guitar Hero’s World Tour. These games hail a real change in the gaming industry as well as the music industry. They just may be the ocean of Bic lighters the weary music industry has been waiting for. An encore is certain to follow.

 

Entertainment Blockbusters

A new entertainment blockbuster was released everywhere on April 29th, 2008. The media was all over its release with stories, reviews and commentary. Fans lined up in droves the day before to be the first to experience it. After the first day, the blockbuster had raked in hundreds of millions of dollars in sales.

 

A Prescription For Gaming

I can’t help but feel a bit skeptical when I read about the health benefits of physical gaming interfaces. Sure, I’m willing to admit my ride on the bandwagon after buying a Wii Fit (read: pushed an old lady down the stairs so I could get a better spot in line for one … OK that’s a joke). While I can hula-hoop and ski jump with the best of them, does indoor exercise really hold a light to good old-fashioned, outdoor, fresh air activity?

 

Get’cha Game Face On, Baby!

When you talk about video games, thoughts of me back in the 80’s in pink fluffy PJ’s trying to beat my brother’s highest score on Space Invaders comes to mind. It was the highlight of our Saturday morning. Mom and Dad didn’t understand all the hype, but purchased the cartridges and joysticks nonetheless.

 

I Am Unbalanced
That is what my Wii tells me every morning. I have avoided most video games and exercise since the age of Pong. However, thanks to the Wii, my attitude towards both has changed. And with it, my morning routine.
