Fast-forward to graduation and you embark on the journey of finding your dream job. You interview with the premier company in your field of study; you love the atmosphere, the people and the work. You will finally have the opportunity to put your hard-earned education to good use. The interview goes great, and you are just counting the days until you get that offer letter and start down the road of great successes.

Though before that dream of yours can become a reality, your dream company does a Google search of your name and, to their chagrin, they find page after page of less-than-flattering photographs, offensive behavior and language, and ill-written commentary. All of the work that you did during the interview process positioning yourself as a viable candidate, has been flushed down the drain with one simple Google search.

The Internet can offer you so many great and wonderful ways to express yourself. However because of the Web’s size and vastness, many people believe they can hide in their little corner of the Internet without concern or consequence. Think long and hard about what you post on the Internet. No matter if you believe that it is anonymous or private, is it worth taking that chance? Be mindful and understand that Web content does not belong to you. Once it is posted, it is the property of the free world. Do not post anything that you would not feel comfortable explaining to your parents, your potential employer, your future mate or your future children.
