Economic Future - Millennial Perspective

Despite the economic downturn, I can't help but be optimistic of the future.  It's a nature of my personality, since I've always been a glass half full kind of person.  I understand that I can't be naive about what is to come in the next 6 months to a year, and the ripple effect from that.  I can't hide from what is happening, but I can still be positive at best.

I just read a MediaPost blog article in which they discuss the Millennial's positive outlook for the future.  This confirms that it's not only me, its the feeling of our generation.  I fall within this category, and feel that this article speaks true to how I/we feel.  I also think this is a direct result of not going through this before as peopel in the working world.  I was in college in 2001 when the economy fell.  As we all know, the 'real world' doesn't exist when your in college. I was barely aware of what was going on outside of trying to balance getting good grades and not missing a keg party.  That was our big debacle!

From the article, it reads: Lisa Orrell , generation relations expert and author of Millennials Incorporated, says "Children of the ‘80s and ‘90s inherently feel a strong sense of optimism in the future and their ability to shape it. This age group feels refreshingly unencumbered by history or tradition, a feeling that they can accomplish anything they resolve to achieve."

Overconfident?  Perhaps.  I'd rather go through this time feeling confident that things will get better, rather than feeling defeated.
