Holidays + Family
Some of us are now back at work this week, and with a few days between us and the festivities, it's funny to reflect on how the holiday really went.Don’t get me wrong. I love my family and I love spending time with them. But — and here it comes — I’m so glad when it’s all over! So what turns a warm family gathering into a wintry mix of frustration and annoyance? Maybe it’s spending time in another house and bed that’s not your own or very comfortable (or in my case, a sofa bed with the bar that sits right at the middle of your back). Could it be driving long distances to a place where no one says, "Thank you for coming all this way?"Or my favorite — when someone brings up their "political views" and we all have to sit around and listen not wanting to rock the boat. Just yesterday, I hung up the phone on my sister because we were fussing about the snow — really! Is it all the work we do leading up to Christmas that when it’s all over, we're just tired and exhausted and feel under appreciated? I will probably call my sister tomorrow and apologize for my comments. And then explain to her one more time why she was wrong.
So rest up everyone, we only have 362 days before it’s Christmas again!
