How healthcare marketing pros (and others) can get better search results through blogging
I’m a neophyte marketing blogger. Our agency specializes in healthcare marketing so that’s one area I blog about. I turned to one of my Capstrat marketing colleagues, Ely Perez, for a few tips for getting more results from my healthcare marketing blogs.
For healthcare marketers (and others) who want to optimize search results for their blogs, here are a few basic tips:
- Concentrate on two-to-three keywords for your blog. For me, I chose healthcare marketing. This is a little more focused than Web copy where you might focus on four-to-five keywords.
- In picking keywords, you have to balance choosing the most popular versus terms where you can quickly make an impact. One decision we made was to use healthcare as one word instead of two because that’s the way people are search.
- Use your term (in my case, healthcare marketing) at least twice in the first 150 words of your blog.
- Use your keywords in the browser tag (check out the top of your browser for this article.) it should include my keywords, healthcare marketing.
- Make sure your SEO description, the sentence that appears under the search results in Google includes your keywords and explains your post.
- Post comments on other blogs and include links back to your blogs. So I’ve identified other healthcare marketing blogs and will make time to comment on posts. But, this needs to be authentic. Don’t just link for the sake of linking.
Admittedly, these are basic tips. If you have others, please share.
