Superbowl Ads! My Top 10 List
Here's my top 10 list of this year's crop of Superbowl ads. I have to say, better this year over last.
- Doritos: Snowglobe
- Teleflora: Talking Flowers
- Cash4Gold.com: Heeere's Money
- CareerBuilder.com: Tips
- Monster: Need a new job?
- CareerBuilder.com: Tips
- NBC: LMAO
- Cars.com: David Abernathy
- Doritos: Power of the Crunch
- Pepsi Max: I'm Good
Honorable Mention:
- Castrol Oil: Edge Monkeys
- Audi: Chase
- Pepsi: Pepsuber
- Denny's: Thugs
- Bridgestone: Hot Item
- NFL: Super Ad, Usama Young
Production Value Mention:
- Coke: Heist
- GE: Scarecrow
- Coke Classic: Avatar
There are some notable absences from this year's crop - namely, beer ads in general. And aside from the fantastically-slick 'Heist' ad, Coke let me down. That rip-off of the famous Joe Green ad was decidedly underwhelming. Cheesy award would have to go to NBC's cringe-inducing series of [WATCH THE NEW SEASON WATCH IT WATCH IT WATCH IT] Heroes plugs.
Take a look at all of the ads below - thanks Hulu - and let's discuss!

No Conan Swedish Bud Light ad? I was a fan. I'd also put Denny's and Pepsuber in my top 10... and get rid of Doritos--oh, of COURSE the woman's clothes get ripped off to reveal lingerie, while the man turns into a MONKEY. Yawn.
And cars.com was a total rip off of Dos Equis' most interesting man in the world, in my opinion.
I also love hulu's new line-- 'an evil plot to destroy the world. enjoy.'
I must admit that I was a fan of the Counting Beans Bud Light ad. The entire room I was in laughed out loud when the intern came flying out of the window. The Budweiser commercials left a lot to be desired. I was quite surprised when I heard on the radio this morning that two of the Clydesdale commercials were ranked #2 and #3.
Also, having spent numerous hours playing with Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, I found the Firestone commercial humorous, yet predictable.
One of the others on my fave list was the Pedigree commercial. I thought the ad was a catchy way to encourage dog adoptions. And who didn't laugh when they saw grandma chasing her ostrich chasing the mailman?
The Doritos snow globe was the favorite in our group. In these times, it's hard not to love that sort of reckless, aggressive behavior. Who doesn't feel like smashing something?
I agree with you on the production quality of the GE spots but they were a little complicated for late-game ads.
All the advertisers have to be happy with the game. The Cards and Steelers did all they could to give advertisers a good return on their money. In the ultimate contest of game versus ads I think the game beat the ads hands down this year.
I thought the Budweiser clydesdale ads were so incredibly tired and haggard and worn out - I'm also amazed at the attention they're getting. The Pedigree ad got a small chuckle out of me - but the intern-out-the-window and Potato Head ads got groans.
Hands down - that Doritos snowglobe ad was my winner - I nearly spit beer all over the dog.
The game was incredible - especially the 4th quarter - but man, HOW ABOUT THE BOSS??? He rocked it out in classic form - no lip-synching there.
Yeah, I always wondered why this didn't get more play:
www.youtube.com
Spent all the money on production, I guess.
I've got to give a shout out to Mebane's own Kingsdown Sleep to Live commercial. www.youtube.com
Of course I really love sleep.
