Capstrat’s employee-led community involvement program, the Boomerang Society, today announced the selection of Genesis Home as its 2009 pro bono client. Genesis Home supports homeless families through counseling and temporary housing to help participants achieve long-term financial independence. In Wake County, 1 in 12 people earn less than the federal poverty level. Since 1989, Genesis Home has helped more than 375 families secure permanent living arrangements.
“Homelessness is an unfortunate reality for far too many families, and this trend is likely to grow during these challenging economic times,” say Christina Jones and Elise Stoll, Capstrat’s 2009 Boomerang Society co-chairs. “We’re honored to partner with Genesis Home in raising awareness of, and support for, those struggling to build homes for themselves and their families.”
In addition to support for Genesis Home, Capstrat is conducting its annual ‘Boomerang Week’ from May 11-15. During this week, the Boomerang Society rallies Capstrat employees to bring in donations for different non-profit organizations. A list of participating organizations and their needs is below:
- Building Together Ministries: office supplies
- Interfaith Food Shuttle: healthy packaged snacks for children
- Interact of Wake County: women’s toiletries and clothing
- Raleigh Rescue Mission: men’s clothing, toiletries, underwear, twin bed sheets
- SAFESPACE: old cell phones
- Genesis Home: canned food and packaged meals
