Strategic communications firm Capstrat announced its selection as agency of record for HemCon Medical Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of hemostatic bandages and maker of the HemCon® Bandage. Capstrat will provide strategic communications counsel, including public relations and national media relations, to the Portland-based company.

HemCon produces and distributes a variety of products used to quickly stop severe bleeding. The HemCon Bandage is now used by the U.S. military to reduce battlefield mortality resulting from severe hemorrhaging and is carried by every member of the U.S. Army serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. HemCon is expanding its applications for use by civilian first responders as well as medical professionals in hospital, dental and clinical settings where rapid control of bleeding is critical.

“Capstrat’s expertise and proven track record with health care organizations will be invaluable to our company,” said John W. Morgan, HemCon president and CEO. “We look forward to partnering with them and working together to communicate the value of HemCon’s products and to help us continue to grow as a company.”

Capstrat will work closely with HemCon to increase the company’s presence within the acute care and over-the-counter markets.

“We enjoy working with companies that are making a difference, and HemCon is certainly one of those companies,” said Karen Albritton, executive vice president for Capstrat. “Working with a company to save lives through medical technology is definitely work worth doing.”
