Capstrat President Karen Albritton and Social Media Manager Angela Connor will share insights on the intersection of marketing and gaming at this week’s Triangle Game Conference, to be held April 7-8 in downtown Raleigh.
What does classic product positioning have to do with game development? Good question. In her presentation, Albritton will provide a glimpse into the classic product positioning process marketers have used for years, and how this core marketing strategy applies to the games industry. The discussion will examine a few famous examples and the importance of positioning in the games industry – not just as the game is being completed, but at the very start of the game’s development.
Albritton will lead her discussion titled, “Classic Product Positioning and Game Development,” on Wednesday, April 7th from 9:30 – 10:00 a.m. in the University B room of the Marriott City Center.
In Connor’s presentation titled, “Launch is Too Late,” she will discuss how social media trends are reshaping game marketing and why marketing solely around the launch of a new game is not enough. She’ll explore how today’s access to social content, consumer commentary and real-time discussions are impacting the way marketers think about the launch. Using the wisdom of new marketing approaches built on transparency and openness, and the overlay of new media, Connor will reveal how opening the kimono in the game development process can fuel success.
Connor will lead her discussion on Wednesday, April 7th, from 2:45 – 3:15 p.m. in the University B room of the Marriott City Center.
“The Triangle Game Conference will present the thinking of some of the gaming industry’s most influential minds and Capstrat is honored to be taking part in this year’s lectures and discussions,” says Albritton. “I look forward to some intriguing discussions on the challenges and untapped opportunities for marketers in this industry.”
