Capstrat, a communications agency in Raleigh, will host its fourth annual student networking event on Wednesday, April 14 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at its office. This event provides an opportunity for North Carolina college students of all backgrounds to network with many of the top communications professionals from the Raleigh-Durham area.
“Securing an internship or a job right out of college is a challenge. However in this economic climate, it can be downright disheartening,” says Tiffany Lawrence, human resources manager at Capstrat. “Networking is critical. Capstrat aims to give students a competitive edge with this event. But it’s not your run-of-the-mill career fair. It’s an opportunity for students to get career insights from successful communications veterans.”
This year, more than 200 students are expected to attend the event. Capstrat clients, employees and interns will participate in panel discussions, providing insights on career development, emerging job trends and building a personal brand. They will discuss communication industry trends and answer career path questions.
Panel discussions will feature speakers from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, Lenovo, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Rex Healthcare, Quintiles, Land for Tomorrow, Triangle Game Initiative, Workplace Options, UNC Executive MBA program, LuLu.com, UNC Health Care and Scandinavian Child.
Students from nearly half of North Carolina’s colleges and universities will be represented, including: Appalachian State University, Barton College, Duke University, East Carolina University, Elizabeth City State University, Elon University, Fayetteville State University, Meredith College, North Carolina A&T, North Carolina Central University, North Carolina School of Arts, North Carolina State University, Peace College, Shaw University, St. Augustine’s College, University of North Carolina at Asheville, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, University of North Carolina at Pembroke, University of North Carolina at Wilmington, Western Carolina University and Winston-Salem State University.
