North Carolina’s youth for the first time ever may experience a lower standard of living and lower life expectancy than their parents. Growing economic, education, environment and health challenges, coupled with their own vision for their future that North Carolina’s young people may no longer have a clear map to success and prosperity as past generations once did.

On Thursday, August 18, Tiffany Lawrence, Talent Manager for Capstrat will join the Institute for Emerging Issues’ Business Focus Group to discuss how to best provide pathways to Generation Z – those born between 1990 and 2000. The group will host human resource professionals from the local business community to discuss the impact social and economic trends have on their future workforce. The goal is to prepare North Carolina’s Generation Z for the future ahead and support them in realizing their aspirations.

“As they begin entering the workforce, Generation Z may not have the right skills to ensure the greatest chance of successful career paths,” says Lawrence. “I hope this discussion will help encourage all local human resource managers to begin thinking about what our workforce will need 10 years in the future – and what gaps exist with current recruits.”
