Capital Strategies Acquires Burney Design

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Capital Strategies, a full-service public relations, public affairs and marketing firm, will acquire Burney Design, one of the largest graphic design and Internet communications firms in North Carolina. Capital Strategies will now have 55 employees and generate about $6 million in annual net revenue.

"This move strengthens our ability to help organizations craft solutions that have style and integrity."

David Burney, CEO and founder of Burney Design, will become Chief Creative Officer of Capital Strategies and a member of the Capital Strategies Management Committee.

The combined firm's capabilities include graphic design, identity development, branding, Web and interactive services, annual reports and advertising. "David Burney has run a thriving design firm for 17 years, and we are pleased that he saw a good fit between his firm's top-level design and the work that we're doing for clients," Eudy said.

Capital Strategies clients include Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, Progress Energy, Deloitte Consulting, Amerix, Kindermusik International, the State Library of North Carolina and the North Carolina Economic Developers Association. Capital Strategies was founded in 1994, andis locatedin Raleigh.

Burney Design clients include Highwoods Properties, N.C. State University College of Design, the Morehead Planetarium, Duke University School of Law, Closure Medical, Red Hat and the North Carolina Arts Council.

Burney Design was founded in 1985. The companies plan to complete the merger by the end of August.
