Raleigh, N.C. - Beginning January, Capital Strategies will launch work on its newly selected 2003 pro bono client, the Make-A-Wish Foundation? of Eastern North Carolina (Make-A-Wish Foundation).
The Make-A-Wish Foundation? grants the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. The chapter serves 49 counties east of the Alamance/Orange County line.
Each year, Capital Strategies selects one new pro bono client as part of "The Boomerang Society," Capital Strategies' community involvement program that encourages employee volunteerism and focuses the firm's philanthropic activities.
Capital Strategies will offer a broad range of strategic and tactical services in public relations, public affairs and marketing communications to help the Make-A-Wish Foundation reach its goals. Specific work will include new design for a Web site, formation of an intranet site for medical professionals and volunteers, public relations for the 9th Annual "A Wishful Affair," creation of a chapter brochure and strategic counsel.
"Capital Strategies created the Boomerang Society as a way to give back to the communities where we live and work," said Melissa Wajnert, chairperson of the employee-led society. "Our employee committee selected the Make-A-Wish Foundation after we reviewed a number of compelling applications. As we begin the New Year, we are excited to help the Make-A-Wish Foundation become stronger in our community and ultimately grant more gifts to children with life-threatening illnesses."
"Over the past two years, Capital Strategies has donated more than $77,000 in pro bono fees, cash contributions and hundreds of individual employee hours," said managing partner Monty Hagler. "This 2003 pro bono engagement gives our employees even more opportunities to be involved in doing good work for a good cause. We believe in giving back and using our talents to help others."
