Capital Strategies Announces Promotions

Capital Strategies, a North Carolina-based communications firm, announces three promotions.

Bennett Hazlip, of Chapel Hill, has been promoted to Senior Account Executive. Hazlip is part of the account teams for the State Library of North Carolina, Amerix Corp. and Deloitte Consulting. His experience includes marketing, advertising and public relations for Pioneer Investment Management in Boston and Sun Records in Memphis. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in English and writing from Rhodes College in Memphis.

Dana Pope, of Raleigh, has been promoted to Senior Account Executive. Pope is assigned to several Capital Strategies' teams, including Progress Energy, the North Carolina Insurance News Service, North Carolina Rate Bureau and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina. She previously worked as a policy analyst for Gov. Jim Hunt, focusing on education, early childhood and other legislative issues. She also worked in Gov. Hunt's press office and on his 1996 re-election campaign. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in journalism and political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Heather Shepherd, of Cary, has been promoted to Account Executive. Shepherd works on several accounts, including Amerix Corp., Qualex, Systems and Methods Inc., The Business Roundtable and Community Learning Partners. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in journalism and mass communication with a concentration in public relations from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
