Todd Coats, chief creative officer of Raleigh-based communications agency, Capstrat, will serve as a judge for the Memphis Advertising Federation's 7th District Advertising Awards, the ADDYs®.

RALEIGH, N.C. -

Conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation, the ADDYs are the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition, attracting more than 50,000 entries each year in local competitions. The mission of the ADDY competition is to recognize and reward creative excellence in the art of advertising. Local ADDY Awards, like the Memphis competition, serve as the first of a three-tier, national competition. Winners of the Memphis ADDYs will move on to the district competition and then to the national level.

"Memphis rocks," said Coats. "It’s a great honor to judge these prestigious awards right in the shadow of Graceland. The advertising community in Memphis is great and still a little undiscovered. I predict we’ll see great up and coming talent!"

Judging will take place in Memphis from Jan. 25 to 26 and will recognize local talent from the Memphis advertising community. The ADDYs Award ceremony will take place March 1, 2008, at 7 p.m. in the Fogelman Executive Center on the campus of the University of Memphis.

"The Memphis Advertising Federation looks for judges outside of the 7th district and we look for diversity in disciplines," said Susan Ewing from the Memphis ADDYs. "Todd was chosen due to his location as well as the expertise in the industry," said Ewing, “We look forward to having Todd in Memphis to judge the work."
