Capstrat designer wins re|THINK Our Enviornment in the Carolinas poster exhibition.
Chad Colwell, a graphic designer for Capstrat, was selected as a winner of the re|THINK Our Environment in the Carolinas poster exhibition. Sponsored by the American Institute of Graphic Artists (AIGA), the competition was created to challenge artists to be more sensitive in their own profession.
"Environmental sustainability is something I've been very passionate about for some time," said Colwell. "This contest was my chance to really make an impact and speak to all North Carolinians about sustainability through my design."
The re|THINK competition required designers to create a unique poster that communicated a sustainable practice or idea for use in everyday life. Colwell's poster, titled Up Your R Value, encourages proper insulation to reduce BTUs and promotes adding insulation to increase energy efficiency. His work was chosen as one of 20 winners out of 121 total submissions.
"Sometimes small, local changes are the first and most powerful steps toward sustainability," said Todd Coats, chief creative officer for Capstrat. "Creative professionals, like Chad, can make a difference through design, and we're proud of him for taking the initiative to do so."
re|THINK artwork can be viewed at Designbox Gallery, located at 323 W. Martin Street in Raleigh. The artwork will be on display at Designbox until April 30, 2008. Copies of the winning posters are available for $10 each.
Winning posters can be previewed at www.flickr.com.
