Carroll to serve three-year term advising UNC-CH journalism students
RALEIGH, N.C. – Liz Carroll, an account manager in Capstrat’s Raleigh office, was recently appointed as a member of the 2007 Journalism Alumni & Friends Association (JAFA) board of directors for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Carroll will serve a three-year term until 2009.
The JAFA board of directors is an organization that exists to advise the School on ways to keep alumni and friends connected. Currently, JAFA sponsors the career mentor program, networking trips during the fall and spring semesters, and résumé workshops.
Board members are also responsible for being ambassadors of the School in their community by fostering relationships with other alumni and by hosting alumni receptions. The board meets four times a year in Chapel Hill, N.C.
“Liz will be a tireless ambassador for JAFA, as well as a wonderful role model for students and recent graduates,” said Karen Albritton, executive vice president of Capstrat.
Carroll graduated from UNC-CH in 2003 with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication with a concentration in public relations and a minor in Spanish. Following graduation, she remained active in the School by volunteering as a JAFA Career Mentor and a panelist for various School events and classes. Carroll was also instrumental in developing a Capstrat scholarship for Journalism School students.
In addition to her involvement with the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Carroll also serves as the PR manager for the Raleigh AIGA board of directors, is a graduate of Leadership Raleigh and a member of the Junior League of Raleigh.
At Capstrat, Carroll leads projects for Deloitte, RBC Centura and the Raleigh Convention Center. She also co-chaired the Capstrat’s Boomerang Society in 2006.
