Capstrat's Boomerang Society today announced it has selected Building Together Ministries as its 2008 pro bono client. Building Together Ministries, a nonprofit organization, is dedicated to providing opportunities and education to help low-income families overcome challenges through education and community support.
The Boomerang Society is Capstrat's employee-led community involvement program. Capstrat will work with Building Together Ministries to help increase the organization's visibility in Wake County.
Nearly one in 10 Wake County residents lived below the poverty line in 2004, according to U.S. Census Bureau records. Building Together Ministries touches the lives of hundreds of Wake County families each year. This year the organization's preschool program will serve 22 children and families; the women's ministry will serve more than 200 women; and the Pride for Parents Christmas Store will reach more than 400 families during the holiday season.
"Capstrat is committed to giving back to the community, and we believe that supporting organizations like Building Together Ministries is the right thing to do," said Capstrat Boomerang Society co-chair, Anna Prince. "We’re excited to work with Building Together to help accomplish its goal of bettering the lives of Wake County residents."
"Poverty continues to be an issue in Wake County, but organizations like ours can help families work through trying times," said Kristin Ertel, Building Together Ministries' director of preschool ministries. "People need to know that we exist and that we’re a resource. We're grateful that Capstrat is able to support us in helping Wake County families in need."
Since 2001, Capstrat has donated more than $65,000 to nonprofit organizations through the Boomerang Society. Previous pro bono clients include the Lucy Daniels Center, The Autism Society of North Carolina, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern North Carolina, The Healing Place, Passage Home and most recently, Wake County 10 Year Action Plan to End Homelessness.
