Veteran of Capitol Hill, Powell Tate Joins Capstrat's D.C. Office

Bob Gillcash, a 20-year public affairs veteran has joined Capstrat, a strategic communications firm headquartered in Raleigh, N.C., as part of the company’s Washington, D.C. government relations team. 

Prior to joining Capstrat, Gillcash was a senior advisor in the government affairs practice of McKenna, Long and Aldridge. Before joining McKenna, Gillcash served as the interim vice president for corporate communications at American Management Systems. There, he oversaw all aspects of international public relations, government relations, marketing communications and elements of investor relations.

Gillcash served as senior vice president for the defense and corporate communications practice at award-winning public affairs firm Powell Tate. In 2002 he acted as the lead communications counsel for the $4 billion merger between United Technologies Corporation’s Hamilton Standard division and Sundstrand Aerospace.

Prior to that, Gillcash served as a senior legislative aide to Senator Christopher J. Dodd. However, his public career began as an Air Force intelligence officer and chief intelligence officer to the MX Peacekeeper nuclear missile system. He finished his active duty career as a professor of political science and political philosophy at the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Gillcash holds a masters degree in Political Science from the University of Connecticut and a bachelor’s degree in public policy and government from Connecticut State University.

Gillcash will be based out of Capstrat’s Washington, D.C. office.
