From warehouses to schoolhouses, Cowen has experience making sure computer systems enable critical work instead of getting in the way. Now he helps keep the electrons flowing at Capstrat. An Army brat, he moved about every three years until he was 20, and spent the fifth grade in three different schools, so his wandering bug is here to stay. He’s traveled through Hawaii, Europe and Africa; he’s gone on safari and swum with dolphins. Even when he’s home, Cowen’s horizons stay big: He’s helped build Kingdom Halls of Jehovah’s Witnesses, learned American Sign Language so he could volunteer with deaf and blind people, and still speaks a little Japanese. And yes, he’s heard the “cupholder in my PC” joke already.
