Heather brings valuable communications experience to her responsibilities at Capstrat. Her organizational skills combined with her ability to multi-task make her an effective liaison between the Capstrat team and our clients.
Prior to coming to Capstrat, Heather beefed up her resume with several PR-related endeavors. As an intern for the Sealy, Inc., training and development department, Heather created an internal blog to facilitate communication between 250 national sales force members. Other internships included the Moses Cone Health System, the UNC School of Nursing and AIG United Guaranty.
A stint at the Raleigh PR firm MMI Associates gave Heather the opportunity to hone her writing skills and learn the art of media pitching. She also polished her interviewing skills doing a podcast with Olympic gold medalist Kristi Yamaguchi. For a work-study project, Heather helped the Town of Cary identify weaknesses in their crisis communications plan. She then helped develop solutions that they implemented.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Heather earned her bachelor’s degree in public relations from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. In 2008, she was a PRWeek Student of the Year finalist for her PR proposal for Youth Venture, an organization that encourages youth entrepreneurship for social causes.
