Lilyn has never met a stranger, whether in North Carolina media outlets or the nation's top news organizations. Her quick wit and ability to connect with reporters stem from a career as a journalist and PR pro. She’s also a leader in social media relations, using social networking and relationships through Twitter and Facebook to provide strategies for clients to engage in online communities.
Lilyn repeatedly delivers smart media relations and event strategies to clients including Google and the NC Health and Wellness Trust Fund. When the Raleigh Convention Center held a grand reopening of Fayetteville Street downtown, her efforts helped make it a smashing success, Roughly 70,000 people attended Raleigh Wide Open, and media coverage included live promos from “Good Morning America” and stories in travel and convention publications.
Lilyn's strategic approach to promoting Fit Together, a statewide wellness campaign of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, led to several million media impressions, including USA Today. The campaign won a national Gold SABRE nomination for Public Affairs and a Sir Walter Raleigh Silver Award.
To help tell the story of the North Carolina Research Campus, one of the world's top biotech projects, Lilyn led event planning, community outreach and public affairs. Plus, she stirred up media coverage on Bloomberg, CNBC, Dow Jones Venture Wire, not to mention the front page of The Wall Street Journal.
Her background in journalism began as a reporter with a community newspaper and as a freelancer for The Charlotte Observer, The Philadelphia Daily News, The Herald-Sun, The News & Observer, The Independent, Our State Magazine and Southern Living magazine.
Lilyn received her bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, majoring in political science with a concentration in international relations. She currently serves on the Orange County Economic Development Commission and the N.C. Museum of Art's Friends of African and African-American Art's executive committee. A NASCAR fan, Lilyn was a member of the N.C. Motorsports Association and served on its diversity council.
