Roger Harris Online Social Media Manager 919 573 6307 rharris@capstrat.com

Roger embodies the concept of a Renaissance man, with a dizzying list of accomplishments and interests. From writing a travel guide about the Amazon rainforest to developing a genomic database, the common threads in Roger’s work are technology and communication. With the rigor of a scientific researcher and the communication skills of a marketer, he now specializes in harnessing the power of social media to reach online communities. He crafts compelling messages in a variety of formats, from chat messaging to photo or video sharing.

An extensive scientific background has led Roger on a rich and varied career. As a senior assistant scientist at Paradigm Genetics, he supervised data acquisition in an industrial biotech laboratory. As an IT manager, he oversaw the processing of research data from international researchers. As a business owner, he led natural history and photography expeditions in South America and Africa. Whatever his job title, he takes advantage of the Web to open new ways of exchanging information and fostering greater connections.

Always eager to try the latest innovation, Roger is just as quick to identify how new technologies can help meet corporate communication goals. His first Web site, built in 2000, continues to lead in its genre. His command of viral marketing, Web site audience development and performance metrics ensures we get clients the right kind of attention. His insight into social media helps clients navigate this complex landscape. Roger contributes his expertise in social media management to our teams for Salix Pharmaceuticals, Progress Energy, Rex Healthcare, Lenovo and Quintiles.

Roger came to Capstrat from Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society in Research Triangle Park, a global professional organization of more than 60,000 scientists. After joining the organization as a writer and editor for American Scientist magazine, he advanced to director of emerging technologies and research analysis. In this capacity, Roger recommended new social media and networking applications to increase member interactions, raise the society’s visibility and develop partnerships.

He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of York in England and his master’s degree at the University of Oregon.
